Kopimotion is an exploration of Singapore screen culture. By thinking deeply about film, television and online programming, we situate the moving image as a central point of Singaporean thought. We watch the mainstream, the indie, the old and the new, and discuss how they mediate life in Singapore. From Toggle to YouTube comedians, the Ah Boys franchise to pre-independence golden age cinema, we hope to trace how these media texts engage our nation’s minds.

Our starting points are conversation and education: we hope to shine a light on how screens and society interact. By thinking about screens clearly and honestly, we wish to spark discussions on how media shapes and is shaped by culture. We want to discover the stories behind the screens and what they tell us about their Singapores.
